This work group meeting will explore neuroscientific and philosophical work…
The Deep South Philosophy and Neuroscience Workgroup provides opportunities for interactions between philosophers with interests in science and mind and neuroscientists with philosophical interests about their field. We also seek to disseminate opportunities for philosopher-neuroscientist interactions in various media and formats. The Workgroup’s name derives from its initial regional focus, reflecting the relatively large number of philosophers interested in neuroscience who hold academic positions at universities and colleges in the American south, as well as the presence of numerous strong neuroscience departments, institutes and programs in the region. However, since the organization’s inception in 2018, we’ve increased our reach, both nationally and internationally. We welcome members worldwide who share our interdisciplinary research interests. In addition to holding annual meetings each fall and spring, we became an affiliated group with the American Philosophical Association in 2020, and regularly hold group meetings at APA Divisional meetings. The group maintains an email list of current and previous participants in its meetings and activities and operates a web site (deepsouthphilneuro.com) advertising current and future events, and archiving programs, advertising materials and photographs from all past events.
