Our annual three-day meeting, Philosophy & Neuroscience @The Gulf, provides a rare opportunity for interactions among philosophers, neuroscientists, and historians of neuroscience–especially promoting interactions between those just beginning their careers and well-established researchers. From 2018 through 2024, the fall meeting was sponsored by the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Mississippi State University. Due to the university’s response to recent changes in federal funding, beginning academic year 2025-26 that sponsorship was rescinded. To sustain our momentum for the free exchange of new ideas in neuroscience and their broader philosophical and societal implications, we must now solicit private donations to support these ground-breaking meetings.
