Memphis in Spring 2024 Call for Abstracts

The Deep South Philosophy and Neuroscience Workgroup announces a Call for Abstracts for presentation at its second annual Memphis in Spring meeting April 12-13 (Friday & Saturday) at beautiful Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. This meeting will be held in conjunction with the annual Mid-South Philosophy Conference.

  • Presentations are welcome on any topic in philosophy of neuroscience or neurophilosophy
  • Abstracts for presentation by neuroscientists are very welcome!
  • This spring meeting provides an opportunity for giving longer (50-minute) presentations than our other formats permit (the annual Philosophy and Neuroscience at the Gulf, group meetings at the APA, PSA, and SSPP)
  • Presenters and participants can partake in the Mid-South Philosophy Conference’s Memphis Barbecue Banquet on Friday night, April 12!

PDF of this Call for Abstracts here.

Abstracts for presentation should not exceed 500 words and must be accompanied by the title and presenter’s name and affiliation. They should be sent as email attachments (word doc or docx, or pdf only, please!) directly to John Bickle at jbickle@philrel.msstate.edu by February 15, 2024. For all inquiries, please email John at that address.

Participants will be responsible for their own travel expenses and lodging costs (lodging options in downtown Memphis hotels will be available through the Mid-South Philosophy Conference; details to follow). Participants will also be required to pay Mid-South Philosophy Conference registration fee (typically $60, but that will cover the Friday night banquet).

Although this meeting is held in conjunction with the Mid-South Philosophy Conference, it is a Deep South Philosophy and Neuroscience Workgroup event, so please email you abstract as described above; do not submit to the Mid-South Philosophy Conference!
